Making the Zoo Accessible for All: $5 Admission with SNAP Benefits

Jun 06, 2025

At Sedgwick County Zoo, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to connect with wildlife and enjoy the wonder of wildlife. That’s why we’ve partnered with Museums for All, a nationwide initiative dedicated to providing affordable access to cultural institutions for individuals and families receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. This partnership enables us to offer $5 admission for up to four people per family, all year long. Here’s everything you need to know about this program and how to take advantage of it.

What is Museums for All?

Museums for All is a nationwide initiative designed to make museums, science centers, zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, and more accessible to individuals from all walks of life, encouraging regular visits and fostering lifelong connections with these enriching experiences. It is a collaboration between the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM). Participating institutions, like our Zoo, offer reduced admission rates to families receiving SNAP benefits.

Since its launch in 2014, Museums for All has connected over 4 million people to museums, zoos, and aquariums across the country. We are proud to join this effort to ensure that more families in our community can enjoy the beauty of wildlife and the importance of conservation.

How Does the $5 Admission Work?

Our Museums for All discount is simple and designed to be accessible:

  • Who Qualifies: Anyone receiving SNAP benefits can purchase discounted tickets.
  • How to Purchase: Discounted tickets must be purchased at the Zoo’s Ticket Office on the day of your visit.
  • What to Bring: To receive the discount, please present your valid SNAP EBT card and a photo ID at the ticket window.
  • Family Size: The $5 admission is available for up to four people per family, per visit.
  • Year-Round Availability: This program is available for general admission every day the Zoo is open.

Why This Program Matters

Connecting with wildlife and nature has a profound impact on well-being, mental health, and education. For many families, financial constraints can make these experiences difficult to access. By offering affordable admission through Museums for All, we’re fostering inclusivity and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to:

  • Learn about conservation efforts and the importance of protecting wildlife.
  • Enjoy meaningful family experiences in a safe outdoor setting.
  • Spark curiosity and creativity through interactive and engaging exhibits.

We’re committed to making the Zoo a place where everyone feels welcome.
