Pan’s Box Turtle
Pan's box turtle is endemic to the Chinese provinces of Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Hubei. "Pan" is in honor of Chinese herpetologist Pan Lei. Box turtles can seal themselves within their shells. Asian box turtles often suffer from trafficking and are sold for food, such as turtle soup.
