Silkie bantam chicken

Children’s Farms·Bird

In the 13th century, explorer Marco Polo wrote about these “furry chickens” in the notes on his travels through Asia. Silkie Bantam Chickens lack the barbicels that keep most bird feathers smooth and neat. This absence allows the feathers to lie in different directions, which is what makes them look “furry.”
