Vietnam pheasant
Also called Edwards's Pheasant, this ground dwelling bird is thought to be extinct in the wild. As their name suggests, this pheasant is endemic to Vietnam, where the last confirmed sighting of the species was in 2000. Deforestation, hunting, and the use of defoliants during the Vietnam War have all contributed to a severe population decrease in the Vietnam pheasant. Many zoos and conservatories are working to keep captive populations healthy, though less than 1000 individuals remain in captivity worldwide.
