How do I get the new license Plate?

Go to your local county tag office to renew your tags as you normally do. Your new tag will be mailed to you within a few weeks from the State.

What does the plate cost?

There is a one-time production charge of $48 plus normal registration fees.

DO I NEED TO LIVE IN WICHITA TO BUY THIS TAG?

Not at all! We’d love to have Kansas from border-to-border using our plate. You can live anywhere in Kansas and buy the tag.

What do i do when i need to renew this tag?

Initial purchase of this tag will need to be done in-person at the county tag office. However, as long as you are not making significant changes (new vehicle, etc.), future renewals can be done by mail or online based on instructions found in your renewal notice.

Is the cost tax deductible?

Yes, but only the $50 donation is tax deductible.

What will the donation support?

Your $50 donation will support the Zoo’s conservation efforts, here in Kansas and across the globe. Some of our largest efforts include the Guam Kingfisher or Sihek conservation, Black-footed Ferret conservation in Western Kansas, The Painted Dog Research Trust in Zimbabwe and many more organizations whose goal is to sustain wildlife for the future.

Are these plates available for motorcycles or trailers?

Unfortunately, these tags are not available for motorcycles or trailers at this time.

Unfortunately, disabled parking tags featuring the Sedgwick County Zoo logo are not available at this time. You can, however, purchase this plate and obtain a disabled placard, following instructions provided by your county tag office.

Can I personalize the plate?

These plates cannot be personalized at this time.

What if I want to get tags for multiple vehicles?

The process to get the Sedgwick County Zoo plate is the same for each vehicle, so for the initial purchase, you’ll pay the royalty fee, plus processing and tag fees for EACH vehicle. Unfortunately, there is no price break for multiple purchases. For future renewals, you’ll only pay the registration and royalty fees for each vehicle.
