Luzon’s bleeding-heart dove
These birds get their name from the distinct red marking on their chest. A deep red circle with a reddish hue extending down its chest gives the bird the appearance of having blood running down its breast. In Tagalog it’s also known as “paloma de punalada,” or “stabbed pigeon.”
