Sedgwick County Zoo

Regent parrot

These birds build their nests at the base of tree hollows, almost at ground level. Females brood on the eggs for three weeks, during which time they do not leave the nest. Males bring food to their mate, and once the eggs are hatched both parents care for the chicks.
