Rock mountain tailed frog

Amphibian

Although mostly aquatic, tailed frogs regularly leave the water to hunt for prey along the banks of cold, shaded mountain streams. They cannot tolerate water temperatures above 70°F. Only the males possess the "tail" for which the species gets its name.
