Human impacts such as habitat destruction, illegal pet trade, and vehicles like cars and mowers are the main threat to the spotted turtle. Water pollution also affect them. The spotted turtle tends to live in small localized populations, which can range from 30 to over 1,200 individual turtles in a single area.
