Queensland redclaw yabby

Tropics·Invertebrate

The Queensland red claw yabby is the largest freshwater crayfish. Mature males display bright red patches on the outer part of the claw. They often dig under rocks, and are excellent climbers.
Because they are raised commercially for food, they have been accidentally introduced into freshwater systems worldwide, and are destructively invasive.
