South America
The South America habitat at SCZ is home to more than 150 birds!
This includes spoonbills, ibis, and herons that consume almost 15 pounds of fish every day. Colorful parrots, including the large Hyacinth macaw, can be seen in the free-flight area. Sedgwick County Zoo is committed to work with many parrot species to gather information for improving the care of such birds in captivity.
Our South America exhibit is a must-see in the warmer months, when a variety of animals and plants provide an exciting experience for our visitors.
